- 1). Sew a gathering stitch along each of the long edges of the fabric. Fold the fabric in half to join the short edges, right sides together, and sew. Pull one set of the gathering threads to close the bottom of the pumpkin and sew in place by hand.
- 2). Turn the pumpkin right side out and fill with stuffing. Pull the remaining gathering threads until there is only a small hole in the top. Sew in place by hand. Tuck the raw edges down into the pumpkin.
- 3). Take the end of a ball of twine, leaving a few inches for tying, and wrap around the pumpkin, starting at the top and always crossing the center of the bottom. Wrap the twine around the pumpkin three or four times. Pull the twine snugly so that the ball takes on the shape of a real pumpkin.
- 4). Cut the twine and tie the two ends at the top of the pumpkin. Stuff the ends down inside the small hole at the top of the pumpkin.
- 5). Twist two brown pipe cleaners together. Fold them in half. Stick the ends down into the hole at the top of the pumpkin. Glue in place.
- 6). Wrap one green pipe cleaner around a pencil. Carefully remove the curly-q from the pencil. Fold the pipe cleaner in half. Push the center down into the hole at the top of the pumpkin. Glue in place. Arrange so it looks natural.
- 7). Place the stems of the leaves into the hole. Glue in place.
