- 1). Plunge your drain for roughly half a minute or until gunk and debris no longer come up out of the drain.
- 2). Grab the gunk and debris that was extracted from the drain and toss into the trash. You may want to wear cleaning gloves when performing this step.
- 3). Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain.
- 4). Place roughly 2 cups of white distilled vinegar into a cooking pot. Heat the vinegar using your stove on medium heat for a couple of minutes.
- 5). Pour the heated vinegar down the drain. When the vinegar makes contact with the baking soda, you may see a film bubble up and out of the drain. This is a normal reaction.
- 6). Heat roughly 1 gallon of water on your stove until the water comes to a boil.
- 7). Pour the boiling water down the drain. Do so slowly in order to avoid burning yourself.
- 8). Repeat this process if necessary.
