Olive oil is commonly used for cooking and dipping, but can also be used to strengthen the skin, hair and nails. The rich oil provides moisture for dry skin and can even help prevent hair loss. - Add olive oil to your bath to moisturize your skin, or moisturize with olive oil before entering the bath and let the warm water allow the olive oil to penetrate the skin.
Olive oil can be used as a moisturizer before bed. Simply apply a small amount of oil to the rougher parts of the body such as elbows, knees and feet before bed. Sleep with socks to soften feet further.
For a body scrub, add enough olive oil, about 1/8 cup, to 1/2 cup of sea salt to create a paste. Add essential oils for a relaxing or energizing scent, and use it to exfoliate when in the shower or bath. - For a deep-conditioning treatment, apply olive oil to your scalp and massage it through your hair. Wait for about an hour before rinsing it out.
Olive oil also works as a leave-in conditioner when applied sparingly. Apply 1 tsp. of oil to your hands and gently massage it into your scalp.
To stimulate hair growth and strength, mix a paste of 3 tbsp. heated olive oil, 1 tsp. honey, and 1 tsp. of cinnamon. Add the mixture to your scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it out. - The nutrients in olive oil help with nail growth and strength. The natural oils also help soften the cuticles and add a healthy glow to your nails. Dip your nails in olive oil for a few minutes, then rub the oil into the hands for soft hands, strong nails and healthy cuticles.
