Displaying a cell on paper will allow you to use a variety of art supplies you probably already have around the house. First, draw the outline of the cell onto a piece of construction paper or poster board. Then add in the organelles with markers, paint, crayons, colored pencils, or cut-out pieces of construction paper. Puffy paint, yarn, and glitter can also be used for an eye-catching effect. Labels can be glued on to identify each organelle. - Consider using your computer skills to create a model of a cell.Ryan McVay/Photodisc/Getty Images
If you are handy with a computer, you might want to use it to model a cell for your project. You can draw and construct a cell with all of its organelles labeled using an art program. You can also use a slide show program to demonstrate each part of the cell and its function. Adding extra touches such as sound effects or movie clips can be useful in making your project more interesting to viewers. - Pizza toppings can double as organelles in your cell model.Ablestock.com/AbleStock.com/Getty Images
Making an edible model is a tasty and fun way to diagram a cell. Cookie dough can be rolled out and baked on a pizza pan and then decorated with frosting, candies, nuts, and chocolate chips to represent each organelle. Covering a baked pizza crust in sauce, cheese, and pizza toppings is another option. A slice of bread or tortilla smeared in peanut butter and then decorated with dried pasta and beans offers another model option. Toothpicks can pinpoint each organelle on the model. - Colored modeling clay is a great option for sculpting your cell model.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
You can create a three-dimensional model of a cell after a visit to the craft store. Flatten out one color of modeling clay on a hard surface and then use other colors of clay to compose organelles and attach them to the cell. A large foam ball can be sliced in half and organelles made out of paper or clay can be secured to the flat side of the foam. A diorama may also be constructed out of a shoe box with organelles glued to the sides or suspended by string.
