Select a piece of leather -- you can hang it or mount it. For a contemporary look you can select a dark piece of leather and hang it from a silver rod. You can also create a retro leather wall hanging by selecting a bright pop of color, such as orange or pink, and hanging it from a plastic rod. A more classic and traditional look can be created through wooden stained rods. - You can frame wall hangings in your favorite wood or even in other fabrics.Photos.com/Photos.com/Getty Images
Wall hangings can also be created out of your favorite cotton fabric. You can hang the fabric, but you can also create a wall hanging by covering a piece of board in fabric. Cotton fabric is also inexpensive and you can find a wide range of colors, styles and inspirations. Create fun children's wall art in wall-hanging form through child-friendly prints such as safari animals, zoo creatures and pets. - Repurpose an old fur coat as a wall hanging. The fur coat can be glued to a piece of board and adorned with brass, silver or other trim, or it can also be hung from a wooden rod or even a leather-covered rod, for a particularly sophisticated and rugged look. You can also use faux fur, of course, if you are not fond of working with real furs.
- Wool is another fabric that can be hung as a wall hanging. Have a friend that knits particularly well knit you a quilt that also works for the wall; this style would look ideal in a cottage bedroom or a casual guest bedroom. It creates a warm, cozy look in a bedroom. Of course, this is also an opportunity to learn to knit yourself. Wool hangings make ideal gifts for friends and family, and the benefit of creating your own is pure customization: You select the colors, depth and width.
