Louvered Room Dividers Are Available in Different Styles

Homeowners that want to break up space in their homes choose louvered room dividers.
They serve two purposes; one to separate the room into smaller areas and the other is to provide ventilation to these areas.
You may not think that dividers can provide air circulation or ventilation but consider this; if you had a wall there, the air would be stopped from going any further.
With louvered room dividers the air is permitted to pass through the louvers allowing for circulation throughout the entire area.
These dividers are both contemporary in style yet provides a modern solution to dividing up large spaces.
Plantation style louvered room dividers are simply squared off cornered, hinged panels with louvers in each panel.
Shutter style allows you to open and close the louvers to allow more air circulation as well as light into the area.
Some people use these as a replacement for doors in areas such as laundry rooms or pantries.
Since they come in a wide range of designs such as sliding, bifold, accordion or multifold there is a design that will fit just about any need.
In addition to this, there are a large number of materials used in their construction.
One of the most common materials that louvered room dividers are made from is wood.
The wood that is used is lightweight and very durable.
Some of these dividers can be found made from metal and a polymer which are also very durable although the metal is quite heavy.
If you can't find the color you are looking for, you can purchase unfinished dividers and paint them the color you want or need to match your decor.
Some people choose to have their dividers custom made if they are unable to find the size they need.
Most louvered room dividers are intended for interior use although some may be used in garages or under awnings where they are out of the elements.
In some instances you will find retractable louvered room dividers.
These hang from the ceiling in a self contained system and when you want to separate the room, simply roll down the panel.
When you want to open the room up it retracts into the system storage.
The prices of these are much greater than other types of these dividers but remove the partition completely from the area when it is not in use.
Before purchasing louvered room dividers make sure you take the dimensions of the area you want to separate with you.
You can get the square footage by multiplying a wall from sided to side and another wall front to back of the area and then multiplying them together.
You can take this measurement to local retailers and they will be able to help you determine what you will need to partition it off.
This may mean purchasing more than one set of louvered room dividers or having them custom made for the right fit.
