How to Use Hydrogen Chloride on Bricks

    • 1). Create your hydrochloric acid cleaning solution. For light bricks, mix 1 part hydrochloric acid with 20 parts water. For dark bricks, mix 2 parts hydrochloric acid with 10 parts water.

    • 2). Soak the bricks by spraying them with water. Make sure to coat all of the bricks with water. Do not allow the bricks to dry before applying the acid solution. If necessary, soak only a portion of the bricks at a time.

    • 3). Soak your scrubbing brush in the hydrochloric acid solution. Apply the hydrochloric acid solution to the bricks with a paint brush. Allow the acid to work on the stain for 3 to 6 minutes. Then, use the scrubbing brush to remove the stain with mechanical action.

    • 4). Rinse the bricks with water to remove the excess hydrochloric acid.
