- 1). Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties." If this icon is disabled on your desktop, find it in the "Start" menu.
- 2). Click the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Settings" button under "Performance." This brings up the "Performance Options" window.
- 3). Click the "Advanced" tab, then choose the "Change" button.
- 4). Click the hard drive that the page file is stored on; this is the hard drive with a number displayed in the "Paging File Size" column.
- 5). Click the radio button labeled "No paging file," then choose the "Set" button.
- 6). Click "OK" to close each window, then select "Yes" to restart your computer. The page file is turned off after the computer restarts.
