Identification

• In order to obtain your PGA instructor certification you will undergo a multi-year, multidisciplinary program that involves training in every aspect of golf. The first step is an apprenticeship with a PGA pro designed to allow you to experience the daily responsibilities and issues of an instructor. This program is called the PGA Professional Golf Management Program.
  
  

Types

• Besides the mechanics of golf, you will also learn about many other areas of the game. This includes teaching golf, managing a golf shop and learning all the rules involved in a tournament.
  
  

Considerations

• Besides practical experience, you will also take classes and seminars on golf. Some classes include Motivating/Feedback Principles and Player Development, according to the Darien Patch. According to PGA.com, you must pass its Playing Aptitude Test as part of your PGA instructor certification.
