Your Home & Returning 80s Dcor

The 80s was a time of flower prints. Everything had flowers on it - furniture, window coverings, bedding, lampshades, rugs, and carpets. To go with the floral patterns were neon colors and pastel colors such as peach, pale pink, aqua blue - all the Easter colors we usually only see once a year. Other themes included animal prints and the Southwestern look with Aztec and Navajo patterns. Wicker and rattan furniture and shiny brass hardware were also popular.

But 80s dcor was not all flowers, patterns, and geometric designs. Some dcor styles were modern and minimalist and these are the 80s styles that are coming back. Modern, futuristic styles of the 80s included black and white color schemes with splashes of color, minimal decorations, and lots of mirrors to make rooms look bigger.

Today the popular, neon colors of the 80s are making a comeback. Designers pair the bold neons with the neutral colors like white, warm grays, or browns. Designers love the look of white rooms with a few bright accent colors. The glass topped tables of the 80s are coming back, too. But instead of the glass, designers are opting for clear or opaque, acrylic furniture.

Many lighting stores offer a range of lighting fixtures that can add bright neon-colored fun to any room in your home. Bright, neon-colored lampshades give a retro look. However, if you're looking to give your home some bright retro lighting, your choices are not limited to lighting fixtures.

You can also add compelling elements to your home with illuminated LED furniture. Today's retro furniture options include LED acrylic furniture. This furniture is lighted by pink, red, green, turquoise, purple, or gold lights. LED furniture usually comes with remote controls that allow you to pick the color and brightness of your furniture. Lighted furniture options include chairs, stools, side tables, eating tables, bar furniture, and bathroom fixtures such as sinks and cabinets. This furniture is fun - it's not just young people that enjoy eating at tables with a lighted bases, while sitting on clear plastic bar stools!

While 80s dcor certainly does not sell a home and in fact, tales abound about the 80s styled homes that just will not sell at any price, some 80s dcor is definitely coming back in style. While the still-popular, modern, minimalist 80s styles may not be for everyone, one thing is for sure, the 80s decor reflected a time of fun and boldness.
