Hillside Landscaping - 3 Tips to Landscape a Beautiful Hillside

A hillside land is in most cases a sloping one, which makes it a candidate for some extra attention.
There are many challenges that are different in case of a hillside landscaping project as compared to a normal flat land.
What's the challenge in hillside landscaping? The ultimate challenge is to avoid soil erosion.
Because of the slope the water will flow away taking most of san with it downwards.
This makes it difficult for the plants to stay on place ad grow naturally and healthy.
A simple solution The solution to this is pretty simple.
What you have to do is convert the sloping land into a stepped staircase like land with filling and digging in sloping area.
This can be achieved by excavating a portion of the slope and making it plane so that water that comes from top seeps into the soil keeping the soil intact for the healthy growth of plants.
The flat portion of the slope is protected using a small stonewall also called as a "retaining wall" which holds the soil in the flat portion intact.
The flat portion of the slope is filled with soil for plats along with compost and other necessary materials.
A series of retaining walls are built horizontally depending upon the angle of the slope.
This kind of arrangement is extremely useful in hillside landscaping.
Retaining walls have holes at regular intervals for easy drainage of excess water.
Height of the retaining wall varies as per the angle of the slope and number of stepped soil beds.
The biggest advantage is that you can grow different kinds of flowering plants on different steps giving it a rich and beautiful look.
