Done With Watches, On With Glasses

The one device that helps out in most of our daily tasks will be the smartphone. It has been introduced so many times with new features and improved specifications that we've already lost count with the number of models and brand holders that launched their very own. With that in mind, the people behind these smart devices sought to develop something new without giving up on the greatest gadget made to date. And so they came up with technologies that people could get their hands on as quickly as possible. We now call them wearable technology.

It began before the smartphone was probably even conceived. It is only today that the idea finally matured and is being applied full blast now that we have the proper technologies to make have it materialized to its greatest potential.
The trend started with Google Glass in the lead for eyewear. As of today, it remains to be an experiment before the search giant finally takes their precious product to the market and have it sold for a reasonable price. Because it is not yet ready for public use, the architects of technology turned to smartwatches. The first to reveal its stake is Samsung with Galaxy Gear by its side. Maybe it's because of the unending brawl between Apple and Samsung that the latter now pushes itself first on line for every new technology because it came first again with its version of a curve smartphone tagged as Galaxy Round. Nevertheless, the smartwatch did not meet the expectations of the eager and well-informed audience. Neither did Sony, which is also one of the biggest consumer electronics providers in the world. I believe it's not the way to go just yet for smartwatches and maybe this is the reason why tech geniuses reverted back to eyewear.

As earlier mentioned, Google Glass is still under experimentation meaning it has not yet met its pre-objectives. Then again, no technology is ever perfected. Otherwise, we wouldn't need to go through a long list of contraptions to satisfy our need for technology. Unfortunately, most of the time they fail to work as expected. Worry not; it seems as if Google is on its final phase for Project Glass and be delivering you a taste of what they suppose wearable tech should bring to the mass. But before this happens, other tech giants could not allow for them to be the last ones to join the game.

Going along with Google is world-renowned automaker, Nissan and its 3E. It is composed primarily of the functionalities integrated to Glass like acquire and display information, capture images and communicate. These are but speculations now since Nissan's 3E is also under further development before it is actually launched.

Coming up hot is none other than the South Korean consumer electronics giant, Samsung and its rumored sports glasses. No other evidence is needed than the very design patent of the device Samsung is planning to forge in the coming year (quite possibly). If you look at the patent, you'll see how much of Google Glass there is beneath the glasses. The same functionalities is expected be featured in the eyewear as with Nissan's 3E. Nonetheless, the eyewear is designed for outdoor activities or sports so it is safe to say it could withstand extreme conditions.

It wouldn't be much of a surprise if more of these wearable technologies be built sooner. What worries me is that it will get stuck with no real improvements like the smartphones of today as time goes on. Time and effort is wasted.
