- 1). Place your dime on a piece of thin plastic or metal. Trace its outline.
- 2). Cut out the small circle. Mark four points on one side of the circle. Points should be evenly spaced in the form of a square.
- 3). Drill a hole through each of the points. Test width by inserting a sewing needle through the hole. If it does not fit fairly snugly, the hole is too narrow or too wide.
- 4). Smooth the edges of the holes by drawing the needle in and out of each hole. You can scrape away the little bits of wood or plastic that come out of the hole.
- 5). Decorate your button by using an appropriate paint. Thread your button by using another threaded button as a model.
