- 1). Arrange your White Castle boxes so you can be sure you have enough. Set them side-by-side, with the openings up, to make the humps of a sea serpent. This can be as long as you want, or as long as you have boxes for. Fit two more boxes together, tucking one upside down inside the other to make the monster's head.
- 2). Paint the boxes before attaching them together. Do this over sheets of old newspapers for easy cleanup. Use tempera or craft paint to make your sea monster green, blue, yellow or whatever color you would like. Use a darker, contrasting color to paint scales or fins on some of the boxes.
- 3). Glue the boxes together in the arrangement you made in the first step. You can substitute tape in this step if you prefer, or if you are doing the project with young children. The head should be at one end of the monster.
- 4). Cut out two small triangles of cardboard for sea monster ears, and paint these to match your monster. Cut another longer triangle, rectangle or curly shape to be its tail, and paint your desired color. Tape or glue these into place.
- 5). Add eyes and a mouth. Glue googly eyes onto the head, and paint a red tongue or mouth along the middle of the head. Liven it up even more by cutting teeth out of white paper and gluing them on, or painting a nose, mouth, eyebrows and eyelashes if you want.
