- 1). Nail one or two large nails through the wooden board.
- 2). Hang the jeans from a pants hanger outdoors or against something that will not get ruined if it gets scratched by nails.
- 3). Hold the non-nailed side of the board in your hands. Push the nails into the jean fabric part way. Quickly pull the nails down and out of the fabric as if they were getting snagged on a nail by accident. This is most effective if you snag along the seam edges.
- 4). Poke a few small holes into the jeans with scissors. Push one of the blades of the scissors through the fabric. Pull the scissors up and out of the jeans to snag the fabric and leave a snagged hole.
- 5). Run the blade of a serrated knife up and down along the jeans. The seat, hip line and areas where jeans naturally wrinkle are the most natural places for this kind of snagging. Don't rub the blade too many times or you will slice through the fabric rather than just snagging the top layer.
- 6). Repeat any of the above snagging methods until the jeans are as snagged and distressed as you desire.
