- 1). Slice all the way across the vinyl tiles with a utility knife. Slide a putty knife through the cut and maneuver the knife under the tile. Pry the tile up until you can grip the edge of the tile. Pull all of the tile up and off of the floor.
- 2). Position a metal scraper so it is at a 45-degree angle to the floor. Scrape the dried glue, removing as much as possible manually. Vacuum the floors to remove debris.
- 3). Apply a thick coat of adhesive remover to the glue that remains on the floors. Let the remover soften the glue for 10 to 20 minutes. Scrape the softened glue from the floor with the metal scraper. Wear rubber gloves to protect yourself from the harsh chemicals in the adhesive remover.
- 4). Fill a bucket with hot water. Saturate a sponge mop with the hot water. Mop the floors to remove the remaining chemicals. Rinse the mop often.
