Escaping Inhibitions in Tasmania

Dubbed as the island at the edge of the world, maybe you're wondering how it would feel like to experience Tasmania's culture and sceneries. Well one thing is for sure. Every day is going to be exhilarating.

Tasmania is an Australian island and state and is the 26th largest island in the world. With an area of 61,000 km2 and a population of just about 500,000, the island offers vast regions of wildlife reserves, mountains, coasts and rainforests. It is divided into five divisions each offering a distinct set of sights, activities and culture.

Journeying to the Edge of the World

Reaching Tasmania may be a challenge itself but it definitely is worth it. Though there are eleven airports in the island, most of these are privately owned and aren't fit for massive airline traffic. The only international airport is the Hobart International Airport (HBA) in Cambridge. Airlines servicing on the airport are Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Tiger Airways with routes coming from the Melbourne airport.

Other ways of reaching the island is through a ferry boat if you're willing to buy a few more hours. This is also a good idea for those who prefer to bring their cars with them. On the other hand, hiring a car in Tasmania also serves as great travel tip as there's just so much to do and see whenever you're there. What every traveler needs is the most convenient, flexible way.

The Regions of Tasmania

Hobart and Surrounds

Tasmania's capital, Hobart is a historic city that depicts a whole lot of insights about the island and its past. Aside from being the capital, Hobart is also a harbor city. Activities in store in Tasmania are fishing, swimming, road tripping and visiting museums most especially the world-renowned MONA.

Want to take the adventure up a notch? Travel Convict trail and witness seascapes, some of the tallest sea cliffs in the world, and wild ocean views as you relearn history.

The East Coast

For a beach experience that's located at one of the borders of the world, the east coast is where you should be. Bask in the many water activities or lay on the sand for hours as you get to have the Pacific Ocean and the majestic horizon in front of you. When here, don't forget to see Mount William National Park, Douglas-Apsley National Park and Swansea.

Launceston, Lamar and North

For a more posh and romantic ambiance, the North is where people experience the finest wines coming straight from the vineyards and dining an authentic Australian seaside cuisine. Other regions are North West Coast and the Western Wilderness.

It would take a lot of time if you want to travel all of Tasmania's regions. To fully enjoy one area, it would definitely take a couple of days. For a more convenient and hassle-free travel time, rent a car in Tasmania.
