- Getting a rental car from the airport is surely one of the most convenient ways to get to Grand Wailea and around the island. Eight rental car companies, including Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are located at the airport. Rental car counters are located on the terminal's ground level and the car rental building is outside along the walkway, just past the end of the baggage claim area. Many rental companies offer discounts on weekly rentals, and drivers under 25 years old are welcomed for a minimal additional daily fee. If you are planning on doing sightseeing on your own during your visit, getting a rental car is your best option. Because Maui is an island with limited amount of cars to rent, advance reservations are recommended.
- Kahului Airport has several shuttle services that provide transportation between the airport and Grand Wailea. If you have not reserved your shuttle ride in advance, you can find the shuttle service counters at the baggage claim area. Book your shuttle, relax after your long flight and enjoy the scenery on your way to Wailea. Before making reservations on your own, call the resort to see if your level of accommodations includes complimentary shuttle service.
- You can find several taxi companies outside the baggage claim area on the airport's ground level. Taxi rates on Maui, however, are expensive---about $3.50 per mile. Because of this, be prepared to pay approximately $60 for the less than 20-mile ride to Grand Wailea. If you stay in one of the rental condos in Grand Wailea and don't plan on needing a car during your visit, taking a taxi from the airport might be your only option, especially if a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport is not one of the amenities offered.
