Normally when a person thinks of acne, they think of teenagers, and the angst of teenage acne.
However acne knows no age boundaries, it affects everyone across the board.
Eight out of ten people have acne.
That is a lot isn't it? Getting rid of acne is on nearly everyone's mind.
Even in my mid fifty's I still get acne.
I know that there is no known cure, and I have resigned myself to the fact that I may always have flair ups.
So with all the years I have been suffering with acne, I have found a few tricks to treat it.
Mind you, these are not permanent solutions, nothing is, but they work just as well as any over-the-counter medication.
With me, my acne is usually confined to the areas around my nose, mouth, and jaw line and it is never too wide spread.
But the remedies I use work as well for one zit.
, as they do for many zits.
In my armory of tricks and tips, I have one solution that never fails me.
It is crushed aspirin mixed with water.
I discovered this purely by accident.
I used to suffer from terrible wisdom teeth eruption pain, and used to apply aspirin directly to the tooth area.
It worked wonderfully, reducing swelling and pain.
So, I think, why not apply to pimples.
It works marvelously, often reducing the redness and swelling in a matter of hours.
All I do is make a paste out of plain aspirin, or baby aspirin, apply it directly to the zit and let it sit there.
It is my number one favorite remedy for getting rid of acne.
The second trick up my sleeve is any antibacterial medicated creme for wounds.
I have tried acne cremes with decent results, but the general all purpose wound ointments do the trick in no time.
These antibacterial medicated cremes are generally more broad spectrum than acne cremes and seem to address reducing the infection and inflammation more successfully.
The last little hint I want to share with will make you laugh, but don't.
It works.
It is hemorrhoid ointment.
This stuff is pure magic for shrinking zits.
Quite frankly it is the best all purpose medicated salve there is.
It contains an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-itch, a vascular restriction and a moisturizer to boot.
What more can you ask? A word of warning though.
Apply it just to the zits, not to the entire surface of the face.
One thing I have learned is to be patient and treat my acne with TLC, just as I would any skin infection.
The skin especially on the face is delicate, and rough treatment will make your acne worse.
Take care not to rub or scrub your face when washing or drying.
Keep you fingers away from the face, and try not to squeeze those zits.
Treat your skin as it is delicately as possible, and try my remedies.
You will be pleasantly surprised at the results.
