- Tudor homes of the wealthy were decorated with rich ruby reds, sapphire, bright oranges and shades of light blue. The colors were distributed among the floor coverings, tapestries, ceramics and upholstery. Choose these colors to help create an authentic Tudor style.
- Place large textured rugs and runners, or sisal mats, over highly polished stone or wide-plank wood floors. Ground floors in Tudor style are done in stone, such as granite, slate or marble; the upper floors are done in oak or elm.
- You can create a Tudor look with rich wood paneling, white plaster walls or a combination of the two. Place large tapestries or large fabric wall hangings over the open areas on the walls. Very heavy velvet or brocade fabric window coverings will help complete your Tudor look.
- Choose dark wooden furniture with decorative carving. Many pieces in Tudor style have velvet upholstery in shades of red, deep green and light blue.
- Dark green glass, and silver, pewter and brass were used for platters and goblets. These were displayed in cupboards and buffets. Replicate the Tudor style with recycled green glass items, displayed on your Tudor-style dining room table.
