- 1). Cover the floors with drop cloths and tape trim edges to prevent spatter. Cover entire doors and windows with plastic if you are concerned that you will make a large mess.
- 2). Check for any loose pieces of wallpaper, and carefully trim them. If there are large sections of loose paper, glue them back down with wallpaper glue.
- 3). Cover the walls in a coat of latex primer. A fluffy paint roller will help ensure that the crevices in the texture are filled with primer. Use a brush on tough to reach areas.
- 4). Allow the primer to fully dry, preferably overnight.
- 5). Apply two coats of paint with another fluffy roller. Roll at a slower speed than you would on a regular wall to prevent the paper from lifting off the wall.
- 6). Brush paint onto any areas that are unreachable or have not been adequately covered with the rollers. Use short, gentle brush strokes to avoid damaging the paper.
- 7). Allow the paint to dry before removing the painter's tape and drop cloths.
