Floral Open House Ideas

    • Decorate your home with flowers for an open house.Flowers image by Andrew Podlaski from Fotolia.com

If you are trying to sell your house, it is likely that you will hold an open house in the near feature. Dress up your home with fresh flowers to add to the aesthetic value of your house, welcome guests and add natural fragrance to the rooms and hallways. You do not need to spend a lot of money on the arrangements. Try to use fresh cut flowers from your back yard or inexpensive blooms, such as carnations or flowers that are on sale at your florist or farmers' market.

    Flowers on the Doorknob

    • Assemble an inexpensive, simple nosegay that you can hang on the knob of your front door. Gather a few springs of juniper, holly branches with red berries, red carnations and baby's breath, advises the Seattle Times. Dip stems in water and place in a paper cone nosegay lined with plastic. Staple a decorative ribbon on each side of the nosegay, and then tie the ribbon in a bow around the knob of the door. You can do this with dried potpourri flowers as well, and hang these nosegays in bedrooms or bathrooms.

    Flowers in the Foyer

    • The foyer is the first room your potential buyers will likely see after walking through your door. It does not have to be grand, but a large floral arrangement can make the foyer seem grand. Consider investing in one large vase that you can fill with discount flowers. Purchase whatever is on sale. Also, do not be afraid to mix a few faux flowers into the arrangement. Guests in your house likely will not inspect the arrangement, and you can save money by mixing and matching faux and fresh blooms.

    Flowers in the Bathroom

    • Place a miniature vase with a single flower in it in each bathroom. This is a charming, elegant, romantic way to add freshness and color to your bathrooms. Consider a fragrant flower, such as jasmine or forsythia. Place the miniature vase on the corner of your sink or on your toilet tank.
