- 1). Dissolve 1/2 tsp. of color remover in 1 cup of cool water. Stir the water and color remover with a spoon. Color remover typically contains sodium carbonate and sodium hydrosulfite, and is located near the fabric dyes at grocery and department stores.
- 2). Put on a pair of rubber gloves to prevent skin irritation caused by the chemicals. Cover a flat surface with a towel. Spread the white cotton shorts flat on the towel. Keep the bleach stain facing out and up.
- 3). Dip a white cloth in the diluted color remover mixture. Pat the bleach stain with the cloth. Start at the edge of the bleach stain and move in toward the center.
- 4). Pat the stain with the cloth until the bleach discoloration is no longer visible. Rinse the mixture off the shorts and launder as you normally would.
