How to Make Green Cleaner for Hardwood Floors

    Vinegar Solution

    • 1). Sweep or vacuum your hardwood floors to remove any dust or debris.

    • 2). Mix equal parts white distilled vinegar and water into a clean, plastic spray bottle.

    • 3). Add 15 drops of peppermint oil to the mixture in the bottle. This provides a fresh scent to the mixture.

    • 4). Shake the bottle well and squirt it onto a 5 or 6 foot section of your hardwood floor.

    • 5). Mop the area in your normal fashion. Repeat the method until the entire floor is clean. There is no need to rinse; allow the floor to air dry.

    Vegetable Oil Method

    • 1). Sweep your hardwood floors to remove dust, dirt and other debris.

    • 2). Pour equal parts vegetable cooking oil and white distilled vinegar into a mop bucket.

    • 3). Mop the wood floors in 5 or 6 foot sections. The vinegar removes dirt and stains and the oil helps restore the shine.

    • 4). Wipe the section with a clean towel to absorb any dampness and then repeat until the entire floor is clean.
