- 1). Assemble the ice pick (if necessary on your model). Slide the pin out of the bottom end of the top half of the chisel. Slide the bottom half of the chisel into the top half until the top hole in the top of the bottom half of the chisel handle is lined up with the hole in the top half of the chisel handle. Thread the pin through these holes to make the chisel handle 69 inches long. Slide the bottom half further into the top half and line the second hole on the bottom half of the handle with the hole in the top of the handle. Thread the pin through these holes to make the chisel 63.5 inches long.
- 2). Pull off the cap that covers the chiseling blade.
- 3). Use the Jiffy ice chisel to chisel a hole in ice up to three feet thick. Hold the chisel near the top with your right (dominant) hand and grasp it a few inches lower with your left hand. Plunge the chisel repeatedly into the ice until you have made a hole of a desirable size.
- 4). Enlarge a hole made by an ice drill. Grasp the chisel as you did in step three and use the chiseling blade to chip away at the edges of the drilled hole until it is a desirable side.
