- 1). Download and install video-editing software. Select a program that is supported by your operating system.
- 2). Convert your MTS video into an input format that is supported by your video-editing software. Free applications that can be used to convert MTS files into various formats include iWisoft Free Video Converter and Oxelon Media Converter. If the video-editing software can accept an MTS file in its native format, skip the file conversion step and import it directly into the application.

- 4). Import the media into the video-editing software. The video footage will load on a clip timeline. In addition to a playhead, an in-and-out marker will appear on the clip timeline. While the playhead can be dragged to reach a specific point in the footage, the in-and-out markers can be used to isolate specific segments.
- 5). Set in-and-out points around a segment that needs to be erased. Select the "Delete" command.
- 6). Set in-and-out points around a segment that needs to be repeated. Select the "Copy" command. Drag the playhead to a specific insertion point on the clip timeline. Select the "Paste" command.
- 7). Set in-and-out points around a segment that needs to be re-arranged. Select the "Cut" command. Drag the playhead to a specific insertion point on the clip timeline. Select the "Paste" command.
- 8). Reverse editing changes to the media by selecting the "Undo" command.
