- 1). Brush out the wig, working your way up from the ends to the root-shaft to disentangle any strands that may be stuck together as a result of using hairspray. If your wig is curly, you will need to use a wide toothed comb or pick; otherwise, you risk causing the wig to frizz.
- 2). Fill the sink with warm water, adding a capfull of shampoo to the water while it is running so it disperses evenly through the water.
- 3). Immerse the wig fully in the warm water and allow it to soak for at least five minutes.
- 4). Swish the wig gently around in the warm, soapy water.
- 5). Rinse clean under hot water until all shampoo and sudsy residue are cleaned from the hair.
- 6). Lay the wig out on a towel and blot it dry before hanging it on your wig stand and allowing it to dry overnight.
