- 1). Spread caulk remover over the whole length of the caulk line, using a paint brush. Spread the remover on thickly, covering the entire surface of the caulk.
- 2). Let the caulk remover sit on the caulk according to the instructions on the packaging. It generally take about 10 minutes to dry.
- 3). Run your utility knife along the top edge of the softened caulk, separating it from the wall. Do the same along the bottom edge of the caulk.
- 4). Use a putty knife to dig out the softened caulk, pushing the edge of the knife from one end of the caulk line to the other. Try to get it out in one long, unbroken "rope" of caulk.
- 5). Re-apply caulk remover, if necessary, to soften any lower layers of caulk that didn't come out the first time.
- 6). Scrub the line with a stiff scrub brush to remove any residual caulk.
