Restaurants in the Plaza Hotel

    The Oak Room

    • The Oak Room is a classic New York icon with rich, dark wood and lush old-world glamor. Dating to 1907, it was originally designed as a men's bar with wood-paneled walls and murals of German castles filling the arches. Brunch is offered on Sundays and lunch is served daily. Lunch menu items include lobster & sweet corn bisque with black trumpets, oysters, mini-tacos, grilled prawns salad, tuna melt salad and dry aged prime burger. Dinner is three or five courses at a fixed rate. Some dinner appetizers include Nantucket bay scallops, crusted beef carpaccio and lobster & sea urchin "BLT." Dinner entrees include rib eye or New York strip steak, dover sole, lobster and sweetbread pot pie, ash cured venison and crisp suckling black pig for two. The dress code is smart casual.

    The Palm Court

    • The Palm Court has been used for several movies, including "The Great Gatsby." Be sure to look up when you visit so you can take in the stained-glass laylight in the ceiling. The Palm Court is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Some items from the lunch menu include seared salmon and braised short ribs. Afternoon tea is a formal setting with a choice of 13 premium quality loose-leaf teas, chocolate tea or the Eloise Tea for children. Order from the classic menu with ruffled quail egg salad, sturgeon caviar, roast beef sandwiches, scones and lemon tea cake. Or you can order from the New Yorker menu with smoked salmon, cucumber sandwiches, scones and New York cheesecake. The dress code is business casual.

    The Rose Club

    • Overlooking the hotel lobby, you must first climb a grand marble staircase to enter The Rose Club. The club's designers were inspired by the Opera National in Paris with walnut walls and solid oak parquet floors. It offers live jazz music and light gourmet fare. Menu items include caviar, oysters Rockefeller, shrimp, French onion soup, seafood cobb salad, organic burger and chicken club. Dinner selections are steak frites, macaroni and cheese and pan-seared branzino.

    The Champagne Bar

    • The stylish and elegant Champagne Bar is relatively new to the Plaza, opening in 2008 to the exclusive upper-crust of New York City. Socialites such as Prince of Wales and Diamond Jim Brady have sipped single malt whiskey and nibbled on expensive caviar. The Champagne Bar only offers a light menu such as shrimp cocktail and oysters, with no dinner options.
