Information About the 2009 Final Four Basketball Games in Detroit

The Final Four refers to the semi-final leg of the championship playoff tournament between 65 college basketball teams. Through a series of single-elimination games in March, the field of college basketball teams is whittled down to four – the final four – regional champions. These four teams then play two semi-finals games, the winners of which play in the National Championship Game two days later.

The ticket application deadline for the Final Four has passed.

Seating:


New for the Final Four 2009, the NCAA requires a minimum seating capacity of 70,000. The set up of the basketball court within a stadium designed for football and the consequent seating configuration will allow Ford Field to accommodate 72,000 spectators.

  • Semifinals/Game #1: Saturday, April 4th at 6:07 p.m.
  • Semifinals/Game #2: Follows game #1 on Saturday, April 4th by 40 minutes
  • National Championship Game: Monday, April 6th at 9:21 p.m.
