- 1). Draw the outline of a cat, fiddle, cow, moon, little dog, dish and spoon on scrapbook paper with a pencil. These are all of the characters in the classic nursery rhyme, "The Cat and the Fiddle." You will hang these items from a straw hat for a whimsical mobile.
- 2). Place the scrapbook paper with the drawn outlines onto a cutting mat. Cut out each of the outlines with a craft knife. Punch a hole in the top end of each outline with a hole punch.
- 3). Cut off a length of thread for each cutout with scissors. Vary the lengths of thread between 4 to 8 inches. Thread one end of the thread length through the punched hole in each outline and tie it in a knot.
- 4). Punch seven holes in the brim of the straw hat with a hole punch. Space the holes evenly around the brim. Fasten one character through each hole in the brim with the thread and secure it to the hat with a knot.
- 5). Screw an eye hook into the ceiling where you want to hang the mobile. Hang the straw hat from the hat's drawstring over the eye hook. The cut-out characters will dangle down, providing a whimsical homage to a classic nursery rhyme.
