- 1). Lay the garment on top of a clean, dry white towel. Pour rubbing alcohol onto a white cloth and blot the permanent marker stain from the back of the stain.
- 2). Move the garment to a clean, dry section of the towel as the ink stain is removed. Rinse the stained area free of the rubbing alcohol.
- 3). Apply your normal liquid laundry detergent onto the ink stain. Allow it to sit for 3 to 5 minutes and wash in the warmest water tolerated by the fabric.
- 4). Use chlorine bleach on the garment if the stain persists. Soak garments that can’t be chlorine-bleached in oxygen bleach, then launder as usual.
- 5). Check to make sure the permanent ink stain is completely removed before drying. If not, repeat the previous steps until it is. Drying the garment before the permanent marker stain has been completely removed can set the stain permanently.
