- 1). Fill a 5-gallon bucket with a gallon of water and add 4 to 6 tbsp. of detergent or TSP. Drop a stiff-bristled brush into the bucket and allow the bristles to soak for a few minutes.
- 2). Rinse the brick thoroughly with a hose or pressure washer while the brush is soaking. Try to blast away and dirt and grime.
- 3). Scrub the exterior bricks thoroughly with the stiff-bristled brush, occasionally rinsing off the detergent or TSP. Scrub the brick exterior until it is completely free of any dirt. Rinse the bricks until no detergent or TSP residue remains.
- 4). Empty the bucket and rinse it out. Pour in one scoop of brick and masonry cleaner, using the scoop on the masonry cleaner's container. Fill the bucket with about 3 gallons of water.
- 5). Scrub the mixture onto the exterior bricks and let it soak in for 10 to 15 minutes or as long as suggested by the manufacturer. Rinse thoroughly.
- 6). Apply a coat of polyurethane elastomeric sealer to the bricks, using the paintbrush. Allow to dry, and the exterior bricks should appear unfaded.
