You have a variety of choices when making leather bracelets: from male bracelets to simple projects that only take minutes to complete, to more complicated and intricate leather bracelets. Some specific tools are necessary to complete any leather bracelet project, however these items can usually be found at any craft supply store.

Stone Donut on a Leather Cord

    • The stone donut on a leather cord is a simple starter project. Start with 1 yard of thin leather cord in a color of your choice and a stone donut. The donut should have a large center hole and can be any color as well. Double your cord in half, put both cut ends through the hole and thread the cut ends through the loop that is formed. Tie the cut ends together, leaving enough room to slip over your hand.

    Braided Leather Bracelet

    • For the braided leather bracelet you will need a strip of leather that is 1 inch wide and 9 inches long, scissors and a snap. Cut the leather cord with two long slits to make three strips of leather, leaving 3/4 inch of the leather uncut at both ends. Braid these strips together (see reference two for instructions on braiding strips with no loose ends) and attach the snap closure pieces to each end.

    Male Leather Bracelet

    • The male leather bracelet is made with a piece of an old leather belt, scissors, two small key rings, a hole punch, leather cord, a nail, a hammer, needle-nose pliers and two small jewelry jump rings. Cut a 3-inch section of the belt where the holes are and use the nail and hammer to punch a hole in each end of the belt piece. Open the jump rings with the needle-nose pliers and thread through each hole, adding a key ring to each one and close the jump rings with the pliers. Cut two pieces of leather cord that are 4 inches long and knot them onto each key ring. Tie the bracelet onto your wrist with the leather cord.

    Counter Leather Bracelet

    • The counter leather bracelet is a mini-abacus. This project requires 14 inches of cord, 10 large round beads, nine small round beads, 10 seed beads, a charm, two fold-over clasps, four jump rings, a toggle clasp, 6 inches of stretch cord and needle-nose pliers. Cut the leather cord in half; you will be adding beads and the charm as a marker bead. String your seed beads onto the stretch cord, tie the ends together and slide it onto the leather bracelet. Add a fold-over clasp to each end of the bracelet; using the needle-nose pliers open the jump rings and add two to each end. Add the toggle claps pieces to each end.
