- 1). Plug your nano into the computer using its USB cable. ITunes should automatically open, or double-click the iTunes icon to open the program.
- 2). Click on your iPod nano tab in the left pane under "Devices." The iPod summary page will open in the main iTunes window.
- 3). Check off the box that says "Manually manage music and videos" at the bottom of the summary window. Now you'll be able to view your iPod as an external drive in My Computer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
- 4). Go to My Computer or Finder and double-click the iPod nano icon to make sure you can access it. You can move files to and from the nano from here.
- 5). Eject the nano either from iTunes or by right-clicking the icon in My Computer or Finder and choosing "Eject." Ejecting will save your changes.
