Using self-hypnosis techniques, like the one I'm about to share with you, can help to totally relax your mind and body, while re-programming your inner mind to let go of your desire to smoke.
You can literally turn yourself into a non-smoker when you use hypnosis to quit smoking.
Start by focusing on the goal in mind and choose affirmations that will help you to stay focused.
An affirmation is a positive suggestion that you give to your sub-conscious mind.
Next, create the right atmosphere.
Find a quiet room where you will not be disturbed.
Switch off the telephone.
Dim the lights and play some relaxing music.
Use anything that will help you to create a relaxing environment.
Then make yourself as comfortable as possible, either in a chair or by lying down.
Close your eyes as you begin to breathe very slowly and deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.
As you breathe out, imagine you are letting go of any nervous tension left in your body.
Then take a mental trip around your body, letting go of any stress as you go until you are in a deeply relaxed state.
Allow your mind to go completely blank.
Don't worry if you still get any unwanted thoughts in your mind, tell yourself not to fight them and they will just gently drift away again.
Once you are nice and relaxed, you are going to deepen the trance state by counting downwards in your mind, not out loud, from ten all the way down to one.
As you count, feel every muscle in your body relax more and more with each number.
Now you are deeply relaxed you are ready to repeat your affirmations.
Your affirmation is a positive suggestion and must be said with belief and stated in the positive and present.
A good quit smoking affirmation would be "I am enjoying being a happy and healthy non-smoker.
" It's important to remember that your unconscious mind cannot distinguish between what's real and what's imagined.
It believes exactly what it is told, so take time and care giving it precisely the right instructions.
After about ten minutes when you feel it is time to wake up from the trance, all you need to do is slowly and mentally count upwards from one to five.
Tell yourself you are becoming more awake with each number.
When you reach the number five, your will open your eyes, be wide-awake and feel relaxed and refreshed, with a feeling of total well-being.
Please Note: When you first practise self-hypnosis to quit smoking, don't worry if you don't think much has happened.
You will be surprised by the effectiveness of a suggestion even in the lightest trance.
The power of the unconscious mind can work in a very subtle way.
The most important thing to remember is to have faith and enjoy the process.
As with all things, the more you practise the better you will become.
