- 1). Decide on the size of mirror that you would like to have. Purchase a mirror at a local home improvement center.
- 2). Measure and cut a mounting board from plywood. Add the width of the molding to the measurements of the mirror. Subtract one inch from the measurement for each side of the mirror. Use the resulting measurements to mark the sheet of plywood with a pencil. Cut the plywood to size with a circular saw.
- 3). Position the mirror on the plywood. Apply construction adhesive to the back of mirror and position it in place.
- 4). Measure the space between the edge of the plywood and the outside edge of the mirror. Transfer these measurements to a 1/4 inch piece of hardboard. Cut the hardboard to size with a circular saw. Glue the hardboard to the plywood with wood glue. Once in place, the hardboard and the mirror should be at the same level.
- 5). Transfer the measurements from around the mirror to the molding. Cut the molding pieces at a 45 degree angle to create the corners. Glue the cut molding pieces to the hardboard. The molding should overlap the mirror by approximately one inch on all sides. Use a brad nailer to nail the molding into the hardboard. Allow the glue to dry.
- 6). Fill nail holes and gaps with wood filler. Allow the wood filler to dry completely. Sand and paint the mirror as desired.
