Ubaldo Jimenez came out today and looked UN-hittable. He was until the fourth inning. Jimenez only gave up two hits this afternoon, too bad one of them was a three run blast to The Detroit Tigers Martinez. Fister came into Cleveland and pitched another good game throwing 71% strikes today. The Indians really never got anything going today. Fukudome hit his second home run as an Indian today. Jim Thome didn't produce any offense. Grady Sizemore came back off the D.L. and he did drive in Donald for an R.B.I., other than that the Tribes bats were pretty much silenced by Fister.
The Cleveland Indians were 10-1 playing on Labor day. Today they could reach down and grab some of the Labor Day magic they have had over the years. The Detroit pitching staff was just to good for the Indians today. The Indians lead the league in strike outs and they lived up to that today. The Indians had a boat load of guys striking out looking today. You cannot score runs looking at called third strikes coming right down the pipe and not swinging the bat. The Tribe has to be more aggressive if they want to win tomorrows game.
The Indians have an opportunity to shave some of the lead off Detroit's 6-12 games they didn't get it done today. The Tribe now trials the Tigers by 7-12 games and have to play them five more times this season. If the Indians don't win tomorrows game and then on Wednesday, Detroit may have a lead that is to much for the Indians to overcome. Time is running out for the wounded Wahoo's. They need to make a move and they need to make the move now. Detroit doesn't look like they are going to roll over. The Indians have got to start putting the bat on the ball.
Jason Kipnis the Tribe rookie second baseman could make a return off the D.L. to make an appearance against Detroit. The Tribe needs some power in their line up and Kipnis displayed plenty of that before taking a trip on the injury train. The Indians are also waiting to see if Travis Hafner is able to come back. Both Kipnis and Hafner took batting practice before today's game against the Tigers. One of the Tribes problems has been getting run support for their pitchers this season. That problem was apparent again today.
Manny Acta knows the wagons are starting to circle his Indians, Acta has to get his team to be more aggressive offensively..... He has got to do it now.....If he can't and the Tribe loses tomorrow's game the Indians hopes of making a post season appearance may soon disappear.
