Fresh Fruit Dangers

Fresh fruit dangers exist when you eat conventionally grown fruit.
The danger actually comes from the growing methods used.
Heavy pesticide use and the use of chemical fertilizers may make the perfect looking fruit.
But, they also leave the toxins behind.
Washing the fruit is a must.
The only thing is, it just may not be enough.
Let me explain...
Depending on when the plants were sprayed with pesticides makes a difference.
If the fruit trees were sprayed when flowering, pesticides can then be in the pulp.
These chemicals can be washed into the soil and water and then be absorbed by the tree or plant.
This would then result in a pesticide presence in the fruit.
In addition, the waxing of fruit would trap the pesticides on the fruit.
Washing would need to remove this wax-like film to even get at the fruit and pesticides.
Now, peeling your fruit is an option.
Yet, this only removes the surface residues and only if you washed the fruit first.
If you don't wash the fruit before peeling, you get pesticides on your hands and then transfer these back to the pulp of the fruit.
Any pesticides that were absorbed by the plant through the water and soil would also be in the pulp or flesh of the fruit.
Pesticides are toxic to humans.
Children are at greater risk.
Their small body size means that less would be required to be toxic.
And since these toxins effect every body system, the range of health effects is extensive.
Including, gastro-intestinal, glandular, and the central nervous system.
In fact, every body system is effected.
Studies have been done linking an increased incidence of Diabetes among farm workers who have repeated exposure to pesticides.
It is possible that studies could be done to confirm the link to childhood diabetes and maybe even autism.
Yet, such studies would require feeding pesticide laden fruit to children.
No...
I just prefer to skip the risk to our children and view the evidence already to hand.
Choose organic fruit whenever you can.
When you can't, be sure to wash the fruit well.
A little longer of a wash than you would think is good enough.
