- 1). Fill the bottle with hot water, add 1 teaspoon of your favorite dish detergent and close the lid. Shake well, drain and rinse. This removes the surface mold.
- 2). Sanitize your bottle. Fill one-quarter with white vinegar, and then fill to the top with hot water. Place the cap on your bottle, and let it sit overnight. The acetic acid in the vinegar functions as a powerful natural mold killer.
- 3). Drain the water and vinegar, rinse thoroughly, and place the bottle on a clean dish rack to dry completely. The vinegar odor will dissipate a few hours after rinsing, but wait until the bottle dries completely before using it.
- 4). Store the bottle in a dry place to prevent mold from reforming. Drain any remaining liquid after each use, and rinse with clean water. Place the bottle upside-down on a dish rack to dry.
