Loft Secrets (what You Don" t Know About Lofts)

Lofts are one of the most highly regarded pieces of property in the market today, and highly revered as well. Home-owners have reverence for their abode, but those that live in lofts love them equally almost as much as life itself. However, it is a rare occasion where you will hear the vociferous bloviation of someone ranting about their house in the same way as someone would whom were living in a loft. This article will point out some tings about lofts that you probably didn't know.

There are actually two different types of lofts. A true loft is an industrial building that has been renovated and re-purposed to accommodate residential living. On the other hand, there are developments that were specifically built for residential living, made to mimic a true loft, these are called soft lofts. While there are many different opinions as to how lofts are defined, there are three features common to most lofts. Big openings, high ceilings, and brick walls.

True lofts don't normally have swimming pools on the premises since they were originally industrial buildings. Additionally, true lofts don't come with carpet floors; normally the flooring material will be concrete or wood, but if you want carpet it's no problem to have it installed. Historically, loft residents have used their abode for the dual purpose of living and working. Lofts are the perfect setting for people to do this because the space was, at some point, used for working anyway.

Many people like lofts because of the urban, industrial areas that they are often located in. These types of areas are always changing; therefore, if you are the type of person that is looking to live in an area that is static, a loft may not be the place for you. For many, the constantly changing environment provides an extra source of excitement and appeal. People are flocking to lofts in droves to take part in the unique lifestyle offered therein. Those that buy lofts and then decide they want to live elsewhere never have a problem with selling or renting the loft.

Many lofts are unfinished open space, and while many love that open feeling, few people want everything open. You can add everything from closets and bedrooms, to bathrooms and work space. Since lofts have such a wide open space, it is often very expensive to heat a loft. Many people don't consider their energy costs before moving into a loft.
