More than 200 Chicagoland artists compete in 43 categories across an array of musical genres in this annual showcase of talent. It's believed to be the only Chicago awards ceremony of its kind. The winners will be announced at a celebration at the Park West. This year's ceremony is dedicated to President-Elect Barack Obama.

According to the CMA organizers, "Nominees are selected by a panel of judges comprised of entertainment industry professionals in each of the music and performance categories. Nominations are based on originality, sales, social relevance of material, local and national performances, quality of performances and stage appearance."
