- 1). Watch for one of the first signs that something isn't right with the body, and the digestive tract in particular; constipation.
- 2). Be aware for any new or sudden development when you or another person feels chronic fatigue or tiredness, and may or may not be pale in color.
- 3). Look at your stools. Are they normal in color or are they black and tarry looking? Black and tarry looking stools are a major indication that all is not right with the intestinal tract and should be discussed with your family care provider.
- 4). Get on the scale. Have you suffered a sudden and unexplained weight loss?
- 5). Watch for signs of nausea that may or may not develop into vomiting.
- 6). Be especially vigilant in watching for signs of jaundice. This will be apparent with those with yellowish skin and eyes.
