- 1). Unplug the saw. Never change a blade while the saw is plugged in because the switch is often located near where you must hold the saw to remove the blade screw, and if accidentally pressed, could cause serious injury.
- 2). With the saw arm raised, loosen (or remove if required) the screws on the blade guard in order to gain access to the blade screw. Most saws have one or two screws that keep the blade guard in place.
- 3). Press the spindle lock button to hold the blade in place and remove the blade screw, washer and saw blade using the tool supplied with the saw or a crescent wrench. The spindle lock is a button located on the motor housing. You may have to turn the blade a little to fully depress the button and lock the blade.
- 4). Insert the new blade with the teeth pointing downward, depress the spindle lock, and replace the blade screw and washer. Tighten the screw with a wrench.
- 5). Lower the blade guard into position and reinstall the screws.
