- 1). Disconnect the water supply at the meter. Depending on where you live, your meter may be located inside your home near where the main water line enters your residence or in a meter box sunk in the ground near the street. Use a meter key to turn off the main water valve in a meter box. Turn the valve handle on the main water supply line with your hand if you have an inside meter.
- 2). Open the original faucet on the exterior of your home. This action releases any water in the pipe.
- 3). Fit a pipe wrench around the base of your original hose bib on the exterior of your home. Turn the pipe counter-clockwise to remove it from the water line.
- 4). Wrap the threads on the anti-siphon faucet in thread seal tape. Insert the stem of the faucet into the exterior wall where you removed the original faucet. You may need to enlarge this hole slightly with a drill and hole saw. Use a masonry drill bit in brick exteriors. Be careful when enlarging the hole as you do not want to damage the water lines.
- 5). Fit the pipe wrench around the anti-siphon faucet and turn it clockwise until you can no longer turn the faucet. Run a bead of exterior caulk around the faucet where it meets the exterior wall to keep the cold air from entering the opening around the pipe.
- 6). Turn your water supply back on at your meter.
