- 1). Locate the offending mold lines. Look for them wherever there are two pieces of the figure that don't completely meet, like at the arm or leg; clothing or equipment featured on the plastic or metal figure can also collect mold.
- 2). Assemble your tools. Select sharp utensils that can easily reach small areas. Start with the larger seams that are easier to reach. Use a nail file or kitchen knife to scrape away the mold in these larger parts. Scrape carefully because you don't want to damage your model. Use a dentist pick or a needle for very small, hard-to-reach areas.
- 3). Use a paper towel folded over to form a point to push out any loosened mold from the seams of the model. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles to brush away the loosened mold.
