Hi, this is Stephanie, head photographer with Reese Studios in Washington, D.C. Today, we're going to talk about photo clothing ideas in an urban setting. What is an urban setting? Urban settings is anything that is in an environment with buildings, people, city, those tend to be classified as urban. So you always want to shoot in clothing that showcases either an edge or fashion, you know, something that's really fashiony or trendy so you can always go for the jean and wife beater option or you can do a designer dress. When you think about clothing ideas, don't put yourself in a bubble and try to be like somebody else that you see in a magazine, really try to stick with what is true to you and what showcases your personal style. Now with that being said, in an urban setting, there really is no right way to select clothing. There really isn't. You can choose whatever you feel comfortable shooting, whether it's jeans and a white tank top, whether it's a designer gown, whether it's someone nude, really, it just is up to your personal preference but in an urban environment, how you shoot is very very key to really showcasing and telling a story and that's something that you have to keep in mind when you do an urban photo shoot is what story are you trying to convey. If you are trying to tell the story of a young girl, sexy but cool, try to stick with jeans, tank top or something more casual so that you can show her in her environment without being too stylized. If you want to show the high society vamp out and about, have her in a setting that's unusual for her to be in and then have her dressed up in style to the nines but again, be conscious of what you are trying to shoot and the story you are trying to tell and that's how you really need to decide on what clothing you are going to use for a photo shoot.
