How to Clean Timber Floors

    • 1). Move any rugs. Sweep up dust and debris with a broom and dustpan. Or use a vacuum cleaner if the vacuum has a "bare floor" setting. A vacuum cleaner without this setting should never be used, as the rolling brush can scratch the timbers.

    • 2). Soak a mop in a mixture of water and wood cleaner. Then wring out until the mop is slightly damp. Wash the floor in a back-and-forth motion, working in sections to avoid reintroducing dirt to clean areas.

    • 3). Apply wood polish to the floor with a sponge mop or a cloth to a dry, clean floor. Work in sections until the entire timber surface is covered. Allow the polish to dry before walking on the floor.
