Starting A Home Business - Remember YOU Are Your Business

More and more people these days are looking to get out of the rat race and work from home - you are probably reading this article because you are one of those people searching the internet for franchises, MLM opportunities or a Home Business - that perfect chance to change your life.

Very few people however will actually follow through and many of those who do follow through and start their own home business, will fail.

Why? Is it the products you choose to market, is it the market itself, is it the economy, are the successful people in your industry luckier than you, are they getting all the breaks, were they in the right place at the right time, do they have more money than you, do they have more time, did you not get the right support and training??

Home Business - What Is The Reason For Failure

These are typically some of the reasons people give when they fail in their home business or should I say excuses, not reasons. If you have joined an established organisation where many people are being successful and are earning the sort of income you want to earn, then there is only one reason for your failure and that is YOU, however tough that is to take.

When I first got started working from home, I was totally committed and worked as many hours as I could. I would be up early, go to bed late, not have much of a social life because I thought that was what I needed to do. Yes, I did need to be committed, yes I did need to put in the hours but I was doing that at the expense of the most important thing when working for yourself. What was I not doing - looking after ME!

I was getting tired, lethargic, mentally and physically exhausted, I was chatting to a friend of mine one day about my lack of success despite my commitment to the cause and she asked my how much time I spent each day working on me. "What do you
mean", I said. "Well, how much time do you spend on personal development and exercise" she said. "You must be joking - I can't get done what I need to get done as it is, how am I supposed to find time for personal development and exercise as well?" Next came the lightbulb moment for me. She said, "Ian, what you always have to remember is that YOU ARE YOUR BUSINESS. If you're not right physically and mentally then there is no way you are going to make a success of your business, no matter how many hours you put in."

Best Advice When Starting A Home Business

YOU are your business - if I had to pass on one piece of advice to anyone working for themselves it would be to spend at least an hour a day working on yourself. You just have to keep yourself in the best possible shape both physically and mentally - commit to some personal development reading every day for about 30 minutes, something that will motivate and inspire you and set you up for the day ahead, do some exercise again for 20-30 minutes. It doesn't have to be a 10k run or 2 hours at the gym, a brisk 15-20 walk is a great start.

I promise you, spending just an hour at the start of each day on YOU, will give you the energy, drive, motivation and inspiration to tackle anything that comes your way as you build your home business. So do it every day without fail and not only will you feel great but you will also start to learn the importance of being consistent and disciplined in your daily schedule.

Make the commitment to be a student for life, a commitment to a lifetime of self improvement - you owe it to YOU and your business.
