How to Clean Antifreeze & Oil Spills

    • 1). Break off a few paper towels from a roll and wipe up all the oil that is still wet. Soak up anything possible with the paper towels and throw the towels away immediately.

    • 2). Spread a layer of absorbent kitty litter over the spill. Cover it evenly and leave for at least ten minutes so the remains can be soaked up. Sweep up the kitty litter with a broom and dust pan and check to see that the discoloration has been removed.

    • 3). Spread another layer of kitty litter on the same spot and let it soak in again. Sweep it up and repeat the process a third time if necessary. Check to see that the oil is up and only a stain remains.

    • 4). Pour dishwashing soap all over the stain. Douse it thoroughly to ensure everything is covered up. Pour a bucket of water over the soap and stain.

    • 5). Scrub the concrete or blacktop surface with a nylon scrub brush. Push down hard on the concrete to remove the oil stain. Spray the area clean with a hose.
